1976 The Gilmour trading inception

The original family company started screen printing onto giant rolls of fabric in an old bus shelter in Royston, Hertfordshire.

1977 Where dreams come true

Driven by passion, dedication and willing we were soon working for the likes of Zandra Rhodes, Disney and Universal. Get us!

1991 Screenworks starts trading

New premises and a brand new name, Screenworks Ltd launched in Saffron Walden, Essex. Ready to take on the world (one t-shirt at a time).

1998 Embroidery department opens

As the company began expanding, the first embroidery machines arrived alongside a new team of embroiderers.

2000 Like father, like son

Before our founder realised, his son Duncan had grown up and joined the family business, bringing with him a head for business and an eye for detail.

2002 Matt join 
as Sales Director

Everybody knows Matt!
The Screenworks old timer joined the team as Sales Director in 2002 and he’s been making his mark ever since.

2004 New headquarters

Further growth saw us bursting at the seams.  So, Screenworks moved to a new home in sunny Suffolk, where the company is still based today.

2008 Investment milestone

Screenworks continued to invest in plant and machinery, taking the total investment in the business up to an impressive £1.3 million.

2010 Multiplying like rabbits

The company continued to expand to meet demand and Screenworks had to take on an extra building to house the growing team.

2013 Creativity has no limits

The new bespoke division was launched introducing bespoke clothing to the range and another string was added to the Screenworks bow.

2015 Trading expands across Europe

For natural expansion to occur, Screenworks had to look further than the UK & Ireland. So we started trading across Europe.

2016 Screenworks' anniversary bash

40 years of trading and 25 years of Screenworks, a very special milestone in our history. Celebrated in style with bubbles and ping pong!

2017 Looking to the future

Turnover was at a record high. The number of Screenworks employees now stood at 70, an impressive figure. And again, the company moved to new digs.

2018 All under one roof

After a lot of hard work, the new plant (close to London, the M11 & Stansted) was purchased. Giving Screenworks the production capacity for 6.5 million items.

A little bit about us

Screenworks is a company built on solid foundations of passion, experience and expertise. We were founded in July 1991 by Andy Gilmour, starting out with over 30 years of industry experience and a degree in textile design.

In 2000 Duncan Gilmour joined us, bringing with him a clear focus on business strategy and finance, as well as a streak of perfectionism. Duncan helped to propel Screenworks forward, and with his vision for excellence in place, Screenworks was well on its way to transforming the garment branding industry.

Strategic investment started with new premises in 2004, and has continued as growth has increased. At Screenworks we use advanced machinery and invest in our staff. In this way, we are able to offer the most precise printing and embroidering service on the market.

We have experienced positive growth of 20-30% year on year. Now employing a committed workforce of 50 people focused on quality, skills and service, we are fast becoming the partner of choice for businesses who wish to secure their promotional textiles procurement long-term.
